Meet international touring artist Leify Green. Best-known for his involvement in the West Coast Swing dance community and for his creative acoustic arrangements of popular songs, Leify is the newest addition to the incredible team of musicians playing on my upcoming album The Key To Happiness.I should never have met Leify Green. Not that I wouldn't have wanted to, but the likelihood was just so low! Leify was volunteering for Amplifying Education for the summer of 2011, traveling with both of our all-time favorite band - Dispatch.
After three missed chances to meet at Red Rocks in Colorado, Leify and I connected at the show in Berkley, California. Who knows what we talked about (music maybe?), but somehow we became Facebook friends before I went back to do geology work in Nevada while Leify remained the nomadic troubadour.
About a year later when I was planning my tour with Mel Wade, I contacted Leify again to tell him how much I admired his hard work to always be on the road booking shows in new cities, and that I would give him the hook up if ever he wanted to come to Reno. Well, turns out he did. But the dates he wanted were in the middle of our tour...so instead we decided to meet in Seattle and he would tour back down the coast with us. That's right folks, I went on tour with this random guy after meeting him once at a Dispatch concert!
But that meeting inspired a friendship, and a mutual love for each other's music. I am ecstatic to tell you that Leify Green is going to sing on this record, but I am even more excited to have a lifelong friend who shares my same passion for music and for life! Here's to you, Leif!
